PlaysHenning Mankell has been devoted to the theatre for all his adult life, and he has written several plays. More information on Henning's plays will be added soon. The Labyrinth (2000)The Labyrinth was published as a book in 2000. It is a novel based on a tv-series for which Henning Mankell wrote the script. In the archipelago two birdwatchers stumble over a skull that is stuck between the cliffs. - Who is the deceased? Where is the rest of the body? And how did the skull end up all the way out here? There are rumours: could it be Bengt Ingemarsson, the man who was to rescue the village with his investment plans? His grand ideas were never realized and instead he was taken to court and accused of fraud. During the trial Ingemann disappeared without a trace and with him the money. When Louise Rehnström, Public Prosecutor and married to a member of the local council, tries to get to the bottom of the story several dramatic incidents happen that make her wonder who is trying to sabotage her efforts, and why. Eventually she cannot go on closing her eyes to the unpleasant truth about the way the rulers of the council are abusing the confidence of the citizens. The Labyrinth is a modern drama giving a chilling picture of the former »people's home«, a country where nobody knows whom and what they can trust. The Labyrinth Translation rights sold
