AwardsNew! Evangelische Akademie des Tutzing awarded Henning Mankell with the Tolerance Prize in may 2004. Mankell received the prize from the hands of Bishop Desmond Tutu. Henning Mankell has been awarded many literary awards for his books and plays. As the first Scandinavian author Henning Mankell was awarded the Golden Dagger for fiction in 2001 by the British Crime Writers Association. Henning Mankell received the award for his novel Sidetracked (The Harvill Press). Apart from the honour, Henning Mankell also received a cheque for £3.000. The motivation reads as follows:
